No news
It’s been a quiet month on this blog as I’ve been busy doing lots of things which took time. Some would be interesting enough to write about but I was trying to focus on my main current project: the Village Web Site.
It’s going now but the number of visitors is pitiful. I had a notice put in the quarterly Parish Council newsletter delivered to every household in the village and I expected a flood of new site visitors as a result. Even a trickle would be more encouraging than virtually nothing. Those I’ve spoken to don’t bother to read the newsletter so they didn’t see the notice.
I struggled for ages with the presentation of the events list as the previous version of the software catered for events adequately but it’s much more complicated now and involves installing and getting to grips with several large software modules with a multitude of options and settings. I’ll leave well alone for now as it’s doing the job satisfactorily, though with a few rough edges.
I went recently with the friend to collect his scale steam loco, carriage and track. The engine is very nice but we need to do some garden work here to put down some track and arrange cover from the elements for the carriage. I’ll write about this another time.
I also went down with cold/flu/swine flu or something for a few days and while I’m MUCH better and able to function normally now, I’m still not 100%.

I’m glad you’re recovering from being unwell. There are some nasty things going round at the moment. I hope you’ll be back to normal soon.
It’s disappointing when people don’t respond as you hope, especially when you’ve spent such a lot of time working on your website. It doesn’t surprise me that most people haven’t even read the PC Newsletter. People are just like that. Some of them will get round to reading it later, some won’t. Those who do may read about the website with interest but not get around to looking at it yet. In my experience, these sort of things are very slow to get off the ground because most people are too busy/lazy/uninterested/apathetic to do something about it now.
Just keep going. It needs to be in every issue of the PC Newsletter because it’s an ongoing thing. Take every opportunity you can to promote it. It looks good and is interesting even though there’s not much on it yet, so it can only get better!
