I’m not a climate scientist. My limited knowledge of the climate is from TV documentaries and reading websites. I freely admit that this does not make me any kind of authority on matters relating to the climate.
I studied physics at university, though I did struggled with the wackier bits of physics. I understand things like heat transfer, solar radiation and reflection, how the greenhouse effect traps heat depending on the gases in the atmosphere, melting ice and most of the basic mechanisms.
I’m not very familiar with computer modelling but have no reason to doubt that modelling can produce useful results as long as models are tested against good data and not manipulated to produce particular predictions of the future climate.
I do not accept information presented to me without questioning it, nor do I automatically decide whether to accept or reject information depending on its source, though that is of course a factor.
My mind is open to change my opinion where sufficient evidence is presented but for the time being I accept that climate change is occurring, that mankind is contributing significantly to that and that our behaviour needs to change to avoid disaster.
